You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing for your ultrasound exam.
For a complete abdomen ultrasound exam, a patient should be fasting for 6-8 hours prior to the exam.
Pelvic exams need a full bladder to enhance the sound beam and displacing the bowel. This will increase image clarity as sound travels well in fluid.
The gallbladder will not be fully distended after most meals.
